Mechanical Engineer

What is the role?

Due to internal promotion Ferrybridge 1 are looking for a new Mechanical Engineer, you will be working as part of a maintenance team to carry out both preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe, compliant and  commercially effective way to ensure the facility meets the required safety and performance metrics.

What you will be doing?

• Ensures compliance with health, safety and environmental management policies and initiatives.
• Promote general safety within the maintenance department and within the contractors employed by them. This includes the approval of Safe Systems of Work.
• Management of mechanical technicians including personal administration, reviews and performance management.
•  Management of all Mechanical compliance strategies.
• Analysis of plant operation/failures and provision of RCA driven solutions to ensure delivery of performance KPI’s.
• Using the CMMS to ensure a strong prioritisation of preventative maintenance
• Creates detailed outage work scopes and organises resources to complete maintenance activities in a safe, efficient manner and within budgetary constraints.
• Generates contract scope of works for service contracts and participates in contract performance reviews with procurement and management staff.

Desirable qualifications

• HNC/D qualification in engineering and/or mechanical qualification. 
• Experienced in mechanical engineering in the Energy from Waste, power industry or other related sector.
• Ideally, a background combining a hands-on approach coupled with a strong analytical ability in a heavy industrial sector.
• Team Leader experience is advantageous but not essential
• Health and Safety qualification, such as NEBOSH or IOSH would be advantageous.
