About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Business Partner to support the ongoing commercial management and financial oversight of a multi-year programme on a fixed term contract. This role is critical in ensuring that the programme remains on budget, delivers value, and meets its financial objectives 

The specialist will be responsible for tasks including budget and cost control, reforecasting, business case development, business partnering, benefits and value tracking, and process improvement. Additionally, the role will involve regular reporting and analysis to provide insights into the financial health of the programme. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Budgeting and cost control  Manage and oversee the ongoing budget and cost control process for the programme. Monitor expenditure and ensure they align with budget. Identify and address any financial risks or variances to keep the programme on track financially. 

 

  • Reforecasting Lead the reforecasting process, adjusting financial plans based on actual performance and updated assumptions. Work closely with workstream leads and budget holders to gather inputs and ensure accurate forecasting. Provide insights and recommendations for any necessary budget reallocations. 

 

  • Business Partnering - Act as a trusted finance business partner to programme managers and budget holders. Provide financial guidance and support to ensure that decisions are made with full awareness of their financial impact. Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate smooth financial management of the programme. 

 

  • Benefits and Value Tracking - Maintain a framework for tracking the benefits and value delivered by the programme. Regularly review and report on the programme’s progress towards achieving its financial and business objectives. Identify opportunities to enhance value delivery and optimize resource allocation. 

 

  • Reporting and Analysis - Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports, including budget vs. actuals, forecast updates, and value tracking. Provide insightful analysis to senior management, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to all relevant stakeholders. 

 

 

  • Process Improvement  Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and controls within the programme. Standardise and streamline financial procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Keep abreast of best practices in commercial management and cost control, applying them to the programme. 

 

Competencies 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
      • Proficiency in financial modelling and forecasting. 

      • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

      • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. 

    • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Workday Adaptive Planner, D365) and advanced Excel skills / Power BI.
