About The Role

What is the role?

Working as part of the Operations team, the jobholder is responsible for monitoring and operating boilers and auxiliary plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient and compliant plant operations. 

This role is worked on a rotating shift pattern (including weekends and Bank Holidays) with a requirement to work overtime or emergency call-out in order to meet operational demands.

What you will be doing?

Please see below a brief overview of the role and the responsibilities

  • Operating boilers and auxiliary plant equipment locally throughout the plant.
  • To assist with the hands on operation of the plant during steady state, start up, shutdown and emergency situations as directed by the Plant Operator and Shift Team Leader.
  • Ensure day to day compliance with all aspects of the Environmental Permit, reporting any non-compliance or incident to the Plant Operator and Shift Team Leader.
  • Carry out routine plant inspections and adjustments / operations as required and collecting and recording plant data.
  • Work within the company’s Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System and all relevant legislation.
  • Maintains an accurate log of facility operations, activities, and events.
  • The role involves working 12 hour shifts covering days and nights.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience of working within Energy from Waste or another similar environment is desirable
  • A practical approach to problem solving and demonstrable hands on ability in engineering operations.
  • The ability to undertake training that is relevant to the post.
