About The Role

Join our team as a Maintenance Strategy & Asset Planning Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term performance, reliability, and integrity of our operational assets. Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, this is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of maintenance strategy, maintenance systems, outage planning, and asset lifecycle management across our portfolio. You'll work closely with operational and engineering teams to optimise maintenance effectiveness, improve asset availability, and ensure our assets are operated safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively. If you're passionate about asset performance, maintenance excellence, and driving continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

As our Maintenance Strategy & Asset Planning Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership across maintenance management, asset planning, and maintenance governance, ensuring our assets continue to deliver safe, reliable, and profitable performance. Here's what you can expect in this rewarding role:

  • Maintenance Strategy & Asset Performance: You'll lead the development and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies across our operational portfolio, ensuring maintenance activities are aligned to business objectives, asset lifecycle requirements, and risk management principles. Through the use of performance data, reliability analysis, and key maintenance metrics, you'll drive improvements in asset availability, reliability, and overall plant performance.
  • Maintenance Systems & Data Management: You'll own and develop the Maintenance Management System, ensuring it remains fit for purpose, operationally effective, and aligned to business requirements. Acting as the data owner for maintenance systems, you'll maintain robust asset structures, hierarchies, and data quality standards that support effective maintenance planning, scheduling, reporting, and decision-making. You'll also develop the capability of our site teams to maximise the value of the system and utilise it effectively.
  • Long-Term Asset Planning & Outages: You'll lead the development of long-term maintenance plans that balance risk, cost, asset condition, and operational priorities. Working closely with Maintenance Managers and operational teams, you'll oversee outage planning, scope development, and post-outage reviews, ensuring lessons learned are captured and embedded into future maintenance activities. Your work will help maintain asset integrity while supporting safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Reliability, Risk & Continuous Improvement: You'll identify opportunities to optimise planned preventative maintenance programmes, improve maintenance effectiveness, and reduce operational costs. Through structured problem-solving and data-driven decision-making, you'll help drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring maintenance activities deliver maximum value while managing risk appropriately.
  • Strategic Spares & Investment Planning: You'll manage the strategic spares process across the business, identifying critical spare requirements and developing robust business cases for investment. By ensuring the right parts and resources are available at the right time, you'll help protect asset availability, minimise downtime, and support operational resilience.
  • Engineering Improvements & Project Support: You'll contribute to the specification, development, and delivery of engineering improvements, plant modifications, and capital projects that enhance reliability, efficiency, and operational performance. Working alongside engineering, operational, procurement, and finance teams, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with business objectives.
  • Governance, Compliance & Contractor Management: You'll ensure maintenance activities comply with all relevant legislative, corporate, and site requirements. This includes supporting contractor management processes, safe systems of work, risk assessments, management of change activities, and maintenance governance standards. You'll also support incident investigations and help ensure lessons learned are effectively implemented across the business.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Although the role has no direct line management responsibility, you'll act as a recognised maintenance leader across the organisation. You'll facilitate maintenance forums, coach and support Maintenance Managers, share best practice across sites, and work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver strategic asset management objectives.

What are we looking for?

We're seeking an experienced maintenance, engineering, or asset management professional with a strong background in power generation, utilities, or complex process industries.
  • You'll hold a Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline and have extensive experience developing and implementing maintenance strategies within multi-disciplinary operational environments.
  •  You'll bring detailed knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems, maintenance planning and scheduling, asset reliability, outage management, and long-term asset planning. Experience managing maintenance data structures, asset hierarchies, strategic spares programmes, and engineering improvement projects will be highly advantageous.
  • You'll have strong commercial awareness, with experience managing maintenance budgets, developing investment business cases, and working effectively with suppliers and contractors to deliver value and performance. A thorough understanding of health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements within industrial environments is essential.
  • Most importantly, you'll be a proactive and collaborative leader who enjoys solving complex problems, challenging traditional approaches, and driving continuous improvement. You'll possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels across the business.

If you're excited by the opportunity to shape maintenance excellence, improve asset performance, and play a key role in delivering the long-term success of our operational portfolio, we'd love to hear from you.
